Warren Qualifying Event #1

12/6/2014

The Jay County Robotics teams competed at the Warren Central Qualifier #1 in December.  This event was held at a middle school in Indianapolis.  We took all of our teams except for 1193C that could not attend the trip due to activities at home.  We also brought the VEX IQ teams to compete for the first time!

The IQ teams did very well for their first competition.  Our two teams from Portland elementary schools qualified 8th and 31st.  The 8th place team (11193) scored a total of 206 points during their qualifying rounds and 11194 scored a total of 148 points in their qualifying rounds.  11193 got to compete in the final rounds where they ended up getting 8th place in the 50 team tournament with a score of 50.  This was a great start for the youngsters in our development program.

THE VRC teams in attendance were 1193A, 1193D, 1193W and 1184A.  After qualifying they qualified as follows, 1193A 13th, 1193W 22nd, 1184A 30th and 1193D 59th.  1193A and 1184A were the only two Jay County teams to make the elimination tournament.  1193A was with teams from Crown Point and Greenwood and 1184A was with teams from Crown Point and Batavia, Illinois.  They faced off in the quarterfinal round and 1193A’s alliance was victorious.   1193A went on to dominate their way through the semifinal round.  In the final’s 1193A took the final round to three matches and came out victorious.

We will take Christmas break off and got prepared for the events in January and February.
