The Jay County Robotics teams hosted a competition on November 15th.  There were teams from Indiana and Ohio competing at this event.  Our teams come in to this event having swept all tournaments this season; hopes were high to keep this going.

At the conclusion of the qualifying rounds, 1193A sat atop the leader board with a record of 6-0, the combined middle school team (1184A) finished qualifying in second with a record of 6-0.  The other teams did well also, 1193C finished qualifying with a 5-1 record and claimed the 4th spot.  The West Jay Middle School team (7515A) finished with a record of 5-1 and qualified 6th.  1193W finished with a record of 3-3, claiming the 16th spot, and 1193D finished with a record of 2-4, getting the 28th spot.

When it came to the alliance selection round, the Jay teams wanted to keep the tournament win streak alive.  1193A led off the alliance selection by choosing their alliance to be 1193A, 1193C and 1193W, in hopes to get 1193W qualified for the State tournament.  The second alliance lead by 1184A (the combined middle school team) paired up with a team from Crown Point and a team from Warsaw.  The West Jay team chose to play with a team from Zionsville and a team from Greenwood.  1193D found themselves in a place where they were chosen by a different school to play in the tournament.  They were picked up by an alliance from Crown Point and Rushlyvania, Ohio.

The tournament had the 1184A alliance playing the alliance including 1193D; the youngster alliance knocked off the high school team in the quarter finals.  The combined middle school team went to the semifinals and lost a hard fought series to the eventual tournament runners up.  The West Jay squad faced a tough alliance in their quarter final matches, and did not move on.  The A team alliance easily won their quarter and semifinal rounds, leaving the two best alliances to battle it out to crown a champion in the finals.  The finals went to a decisive third finals match.  They won with a score of 49-41.  During the tournament, the A team alliance scored an Indiana high score of 73 points.

Award winners for the Jay County teams were the winning alliance of 1193A, 1193C and 1193W.  1193W is now qualified for the State Championship.  The combined middle school team won another Excellence award for their continued dominance in the middle school division.
