Jay County Dual Competition

1/17/2015

The Jay County Robotics teams hosted the first ever “Dual” competition this past weekend.  This event was special because we host two totally separate events at the same venue, on the same day.  One of the competitions was more geared towards middle school teams and the other competition was geared towards the high school teams.

Our middle school teams competed at the “West Jay” event that was held in the commons.  Team 1184A ended qualifying with a record of 6-0 and qualified second.  They went in to the eliminations with partners from Greenwood and Indianapolis.  They dominated their way through the Quarterfinal and Semifinal rounds.  In the finals they had to play 3 matches to determine the tournament winner, they won!  The two West Jay teams paired up together for the elimination rounds with their third partner coming from Greenwood.  They dominated their Quarterfinal round, but took on the other Jay County team in the Semifinals where they lost.  This matched both teams best result of the year.  7515A qualified 7th and 7515B qualified 20th.  1184A (the combined EJMS and WJMS team) won both of the skills competitions!

All of the Jay County High School teams competed in the auxiliary gym.  1193A qualified 1st, 1193W qualified 8th and 1193C qualified 14th.  In the eliminations, 1193A and 1193C partnered with a group from Zionsville.  They had a hard fought battle through the elimination tournament and made it to the semifinals.  1193W was picked by a team from Greenwood and a team from Zionsville.  They also made it to the semifinals.

All of the VEX Robotics Competition teams will be getting ready for the Warsaw competition this week and will compete on January 24th.
